Brazilian Wax in Bangkok: Bikini Line vs Brazilian vs Hollywood (Prices & Guide)

Shaving in Bangkok's heat and humidity is a losing battle. You're dealing with sweat, chafing, and stubble within a day, plus the ingrown hairs and razor bumps that come from doing it constantly because everyone's in swimwear or gym clothes half the year. Waxing pulls the hair from the root instead of cutting it at the surface, so regrowth comes back finer and sparser over time, and there's no daily upkeep between appointments.

The part people don't talk about enough: not all waxing in Bangkok is equal. Bad wax technique, reused applicators, or a rushed tech can mean unnecessary pain, missed patches, or actual skin irritation. A Brazilian wax in Bangkok done properly (clean tools, the right wax temperature, correct technique for sensitive skin) should be efficient and no worse than expected discomfort, not something you dread every few weeks.

Bikini Line vs Brazilian vs Hollywood: What's Included

Bikini Line

The most minimal option: hair removed just along the edges where it would show outside regular underwear or a swimsuit bottom. Everything else stays as is. Good for anyone who just wants clean lines for swimwear without changing their overall coverage.

Bikini Brazilian

Full removal from the front and back, leaving a small strip or triangle on top (shape and width can be discussed with your tech). This is the standard "Brazilian" most people mean when they book: full coverage removed, a deliberate small amount left behind.

Hollywood

Complete removal: everything, front and back, nothing left behind. This is the option for anyone who wants fully bare with no strip or triangle at all.

Brazilian Backend

The back/rear strip specifically, booked on its own if you only need that area addressed, separate from a full Brazilian or Hollywood.

Buttocks

The buttocks area on its own, separate from the bikini/Brazilian zones above.

What to Expect & How to Prepare

Hair needs to be roughly 3 to 5mm long for wax to grip it properly, which usually means not shaving for 2 to 3 weeks before your appointment. Shower beforehand, and skip lotions, oils, or creams on the area that day, since they make it harder for the wax to adhere.

In the appointment: your tech checks hair length and skin, applies wax in sections, removes it against the grain of hair growth, and works through the area zone by zone until everything included in your chosen service is done. First-time appointments tend to feel more intense simply because your skin isn't used to it. Most people find every wax after the first is noticeably more comfortable as hair grows back finer and you know what to expect.

Aftercare

  • Avoid hot water, saunas, steam rooms, and intense workouts for 24 to 48 hours. Heat and sweat on freshly waxed skin increase the risk of irritation and breakouts.
  • Skip the pool and swimming for the same 24-48 hour window, for the same reason.
  • Wear loose, breathable underwear for the first day or two. Tight fabric rubbing on freshly waxed skin is a common cause of irritation.
  • Start light exfoliation after 2 to 3 days, once any initial sensitivity has settled, to help prevent ingrown hairs.
  • Moisturize regularly between appointments. Well-hydrated skin waxes more comfortably and is less prone to ingrown hairs.

FAQ

Does Brazilian wax hurt?

It's uncomfortable, especially the first time. There's no way around that with hair removed from the root. Most clients say each session after the first is noticeably easier as you get used to the sensation and hair grows back finer.

How long does it last?

Typically 3 to 5 weeks before you need to rebook, depending on your individual hair growth cycle.

How long should hair be?

Around 3 to 5mm, long enough for the wax to grip properly. If you've shaved recently, it's worth waiting a couple of weeks before booking.

Can I wax during my period?

Yes, waxing during your period is fine. Skin can just be a bit more sensitive around that time, so let your tech know beforehand and they'll adjust as needed.

What's the difference between wax and sugaring?

Both remove hair from the root, but sugaring paste is applied and removed in the direction of hair growth and tends to be gentler on sensitive skin, with less risk of irritation. If you're curious, read more in our Sugaring post on the blog.
