Russian Manicure in Bangkok: Prices, Master Tech vs E-File & How to Book

If you've lived in Bangkok long enough, you already know the drill: you ask for a "dry manicure," the tech nods, and twenty minutes later you're getting the same soggy-cuticle-and-nippers routine as everyone else. A real Russian manicure in Bangkok is a different craft entirely. It's built around an e-file (electric nail drill), not water and clippers, and it treats your cuticle like something to be shaped and smoothed, not hacked at.

The technique comes from Eastern Europe, where nail techs train for months just on machine work before they touch a client. The core idea: instead of soaking your hands and pushing/cutting soft, swollen cuticle tissue, the e-file removes dead skin and lifts the eponychium while it's still dry, leaving cleaner edges, almost no bleeding, and a nail plate that's perfectly prepped for gel or hard gel to actually last. Done well, it's also noticeably longer-lasting than a standard wet manicure, because the base coat is bonding to properly buffed, oil-free nail, not to a slightly damp surface.

It's still genuinely hard to find in Bangkok done to an Eastern European standard. Most salons on Sukhumvit offer "gel manicure" that skips the machine work entirely. At GlowUp Beauty Haus on Sukhumvit 31, this is what our Russian manicure (Sukhumvit) service is built around, at two service tiers so you can pick the depth of work (and the price) that fits what your nails actually need.

What to Expect: Step by Step

  1. Consultation and shape check. We look at your natural nail condition, any lifting or overgrowth, and confirm which finish you want: gel color, BIAB, hard gel, or french/ombre.
  2. Sanitized tools, every time. Bits and instruments are disinfected between clients, non-negotiable for machine work.
  3. E-file cuticle work. The dry, mechanical core of the service: the drill lifts and clears the eponychium and pterygium, cleans the sidewalls, and removes dead skin, with no soaking and no nippers digging into live tissue.
  4. Nail plate prep and shaping. Length and shape are filed, the surface is buffed to remove shine and oils so product actually bonds.
  5. Base and building. Depending on what you booked: gel polish base, a BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) structural layer for extra strength, or hard gel for real reinforcement or light extensions.
  6. Color and finish. Regular polish, gel color, or a french/ombre gradient, cured layer by layer.
  7. Top coat and cuticle oil. Sealed, shined, and finished with oil so the skin around the nail doesn't dry out from the machine work.

Total time runs 60 to 180 minutes depending on how many layers you add. A plain manicure is the fast end, a full BIAB-plus-gel build is the long end.

Two tiers, same dry, machine-based approach. The difference is who's doing the work and how much structural product goes on. Full breakdown below; see the full services and price list for everything else we offer.

Master Tech vs Regular E-File: What's the Difference

Both tiers use the same dry, machine-based cuticle work. The split is about who's holding the drill and what your nails need.

Russian E-File Manicure is our standard offering: a fully trained e-file tech, solid machine work, and every build option from a plain polish to hard gel with french tips. It's the right call for nails in normal condition, a maintenance fill, or if you just want a proper dry manicure without paying for the top tier. This is also where the e-file manicure Bangkok price makes the most sense, starting from ฿700 for a standard visit.

Russian Manicure (Master Tech) puts you with our senior nail tech: the person you want for damaged cuticles, uneven nail beds, nails that keep lifting early, or any case that needs a more careful, more precise hand. Master Tech pricing runs higher because the sessions are longer and the finish is built to hold up better over time, especially for BIAB and hard gel work that's meant to last through a full growth cycle.

Simple rule: if your nails are in decent shape and you just want them done properly, book E-File. If you've had recurring lifting, cuticle damage, or you want the most durable hard gel manicure or BIAB nails possible, book Master Tech.

How Long Does Russian Manicure Last & Aftercare

With proper e-file prep, gel and BIAB finishes typically hold 3 to 5 weeks before you need a fill, and regular polish over a dry manicure lasts about 1 to 2 weeks, noticeably longer than a standard wet manicure because the base is bonding to clean, oil-free nail instead of slightly soaked skin.

  • Apply cuticle oil daily, not just after your appointment. Dry cuticle work keeps the skin clean, but it still needs moisture to stay flexible.
  • Wear gloves for cleaning, dishwashing, and anything with harsh chemicals. This is the single biggest reason gel lifts early.
  • Don't pick at lifting gel or peel off polish. Book a fill or removal instead, or you'll take layers of your natural nail with it.
  • Use your nails as tools as little as possible: opening cans, scratching labels, and prying things apart all stress the tips first.
  • Book your next fill around the 3-4 week mark rather than waiting for visible growth. It keeps the shape clean and the structure intact.

FAQ

Does Russian manicure hurt?

Done correctly, no. The e-file works on dead skin and cuticle tissue that isn't sensitive, and a trained tech keeps the bit away from the live nail bed. If anything feels sharp or hot, say so immediately; that's not how it's supposed to feel.

How long does it take?

Anywhere from 60 minutes for a plain Manicure Only or Standard e-file, up to about 180 minutes for a full BIAB-plus-gel build. See the price list above for exact timing per option.

Can I do pedicure at the same time?

Yes. This is one of the reasons people book with us specifically. Our chairs are set up as dual stations, so a hands service and a feet service run in parallel with two techs instead of back-to-back. You leave in the time of one service, not two.

Do you use e-file on natural nails?

Yes, on natural nails and on gel/BIAB overlays alike. The e-file is used for cuticle work and surface prep either way. On natural nails the tech works lighter and focuses mainly on the cuticle and sidewalls, not the nail plate itself.

What's the difference between BIAB and hard gel?

BIAB (Builder in a Bottle) is a flexible, self-leveling gel used to strengthen and slightly build natural nails. It feels close to your own nail. Hard gel is a firmer, sculptable product, better suited to reinforcing weak nails or light extensions where you need more structure.
